Top 3 Tips For Styling Your Family For Pictures | Macomb Family Photographer
We’ve entered the ‘ber months! These are my FAVORITE months, and it also means it is family photo season. Everyone is wanting to get updated family pictures (Fall + Michigan = the best), freezing this moment in time and also preparing for the soon-to-be sent holiday cards.
When I chat with my clients at our consultations to plan their family photo sessions, moms all have the same pain point (besides will my children cooperate ;))…
“What should we all wear for family photos?!”
We’re going to break this down to make it easy for you, mama!
There’s no gatekeeping here, Friends.
01. First and foremost, Mamas please pick YOUR outfit first.
We are our own biggest critics, which makes us the hardest to satisfy with our outfits. The kids? They’re easy to pick; heck, they’re FUN to pick. The husbands? Also easy. Us? Not so much. Even if you’re not shopping for something new, it doesn’t matter! You select your outfit first.
02. Pick a color palette to coordinate everyone in.
Ok, you’ve got your outfit, that’s a perfect start! Now, pull one of the colors from your outfit and select 3-5 (depending on how big your family is) additional colors that compliment it. Pick the rest of the families outfits by mixing and matching those colors.
Do you want to see some color palette examples? Look no further!
03. Add some interest to the outfits.
What’s that mean? It means add in a small design on your daughter’s dress, or stripes on your son’s shirt, add a textured cardigan to your dress, or a vest to your husband’s attire. A little pattern and accessories goes a long way to elevate your look.
We’ve gone through the three tips, but you’re more of a visional learner, you say? Oh, and you love Amazon?
Say no more!
Here you can see a full blog post with coordinated family outfits AND they’re all linked in Amazon for you. I hope this takes something off your plate today; I know you’re busy!
What do you think? Does that help take some stress out of the outfit selection process?
Before I go, I wanted to give you a quick update about the Holiday Mini Session Collection! Check to see what’s left for remaining dates and times that work with your schedule! All the Holiday Minis take place in November so you have time to get your holiday cards dropped in the mail.
