When Is The Best Time To Take Senior Pictures? | Rochester Hills, Mi Photographer

As a Rochester Hills Senior Portrait Photographer, the very first question I always get asked regarding high senior senior pictures is,

When should we have senior photos done?

My answer is always: it depends!

It depends on a few different things, and it’s all subjective depending on what you like. Let’s talk about it, yes?

First, consider your favorite clothing.

Do you feel confident and comfortable in attire for Spring, Summer, or Fall?

To take that a little deeper, do you prefer sun dresses and shorts or would you rather be cozy with a sweater and pants or bundled more with layers?

Second, do you want a certain seasonal look?

Would you prefer more greens and flowers, or those Michigan autumn colors and tones?

I have some clients that do not like to be cold; and I also have some clients who can’t stand to be hot. Your preferences on temperature is a helpful determining factor for your session date (and it loops back to your preferred attire)!

Third, your schedule!

I know how busy high school seniors are between work, afterschool activities and games and homework. Is your schedule lighter during the summer months? Maybe you have camp you attend in June, so July is a better option. If Fall is jam packed with practices and games, let’s aim for an August date for you.

The absolute latest I would recommend is an April session, but that’s cutting it close for when you’ll be getting graduation invitations and more ready. Summer or Fall entering senior year is definitely ideal.

By the way, how gorgeous is Lena in all of these photos? Her session was all around Downtown Rochester, Michigan and we couldn’t have asked for a better day!

Let me know what other questions you have about senior portraits; I’m always happy to help!

Talk to you and your senior soon!
